SHARJAH, UAE — January 2026 — The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced a strategic partnership with Citix MENA to roll out an advanced smartboard digital network across the emirate’s premier destinations. This initiative is a major step in modernizing visitor engagement and accelerating Sharjah’s transition into a leading global smart city.
Transforming Urban Communication
Under this agreement, Citix will deploy a new generation of interactive digital “street-furniture” screens. These smartboards are designed to provide residents and tourists with real-time information, including:
- Live Updates: Continuous visibility of cultural, leisure, and tourism activities.
- Smart Wayfinding: Interactive maps to improve navigation across public spaces.
- Adaptive Widgets: Real-time data on traffic, weather, and emergency alerts.
Empowering Brands and Stakeholders
Beyond public utility, the network serves as a sophisticated media system. The smartboards offer dynamic content backed by transparent analytics, providing brands and city authorities with powerful tools for targeted communication and public engagement.
Phased Rollout in Iconic Destinations
The first phase of the project focuses on high-footfall areas managed by Shurooq, ensuring maximum impact. Key locations include:
- Al Qasba
- Al Heera Beach
- The Flag Island
- Khorfakkan
Future expansion is already planned as part of a long-term roadmap to strengthen Sharjah’s digital infrastructure.
A Vision for the Future
Stepan Kasatkin, CEO of Citix MENA, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “This initiative aligns with our mission to build smarter, more connected public spaces. Our partnership with Shurooq lays the foundation for infrastructure that supports residents, visitors, and businesses, while elevating Sharjah’s position in the regional smart city landscape.”
The collaboration underscores a shared vision to enhance the quality of urban life through modern technology, ensuring Sharjah remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainable development.
