Parmigiani Fleurier pioneers luxury watchmaking by crafting an entire timepiece—case, bezel, crown, pushers, and bracelet buckle—from Cermet, a groundbreaking aerospace-grade composite.
UAE – Parmigiani Fleurier, known for its dedication to fine watchmaking and radical innovation, has announced the launch of the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet. This timepiece represents a world-first in luxury horology, becoming the only watch to feature a complete construction—including case, fluted bezel, crown, pushers, and bracelet buckle—entirely machined from Cermet.
Cermet, a portmanteau of CERamic and METal, is a composite material prized in aerospace for its scratch resistance, hardness, and lightness. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph’s Cermet is a precise alloy of titanium and ceramic, achieving a remarkable hardness of 1450 HV (Vickers). Its development took three years, culminating in a watch that blends the high-temperature resilience of ceramic with the metallic reflection and lightness of a metal alloy.
Available in two captivating shades, London Grey and Milano Blue, the watch is a futuristic vision of sophisticated, sporty elegance. The satin-polished anthracite Cermet case enhances its modern aesthetic, subtly capturing light with a unique metallic sheen while maintaining minimalist elegance.
At the heart of this technological masterpiece is the PF070 calibre, a COSC-certified, high-frequency integrated chronograph movement beating at 36,000 vph. This exceptional movement ensures extreme precision and optimized performance, meeting Parmigiani Fleurier’s rigorous standards of excellence.
“The Tonda PF Sport Ultra-Cermet is crafted for discerning watch enthusiasts seeking a bold declaration of style and innovation,” a Parmigiani Fleurier spokesperson stated. “We have masterfully blended artisanal excellence with radical innovation, offering a compelling alternative to mainstream watchmaking. This timepiece embodies a modern vision of haute horlogerie, where material innovation becomes a hallmark of cultural distinction and functional elegance.”
The manufacture of the Cermet components requires extreme precision, with the assembly alone demanding a full day of work and incorporating 72 distinct components. The dial, treated in Blackor (a 9-carat gold-nickel deposit), sports a distinctive grey-black hue, further enhancing the timepiece’s metallic elegance.
The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet marks a bold new era for Parmigiani Fleurier, cementing its position as a pioneer in materials science at the service of contemporary aesthetics.
