Revealed live in Abu Dhabi, today during UFC 321

Dubai, UAE, 25 October 2025: STARZPLAY, the leading subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform in the MENA region, has today announced, during the live stream of the UFC 321 event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, the exclusive regional premiere of Smashing Machine, a major new feature film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, streaming December 1st, coinciding with the UAE’s 54th National Day weekend.

Based on a true story, Smashing Machine follows the life of MMA legend Mark Kerr, one of the most dominant fighters in the early days of the UFC and the personal battle he fought outside the cage. At the peak of his career, Kerr faces addiction, physical damage, and the emotional toll of fame, as his relationship with his girlfriend Dawn Staples (played by Emily Blunt) begins to unravel under pressure.

Directed by Benny Safdie, the film offers a raw and unflinching look at the price of glory, where victory and self-destruction collide. In what is already being called one of his most powerful and vulnerable performances, Dwayne Johnson steps into a role unlike any he has taken before, portraying the man behind the legend known as “The Smashing Machine.”
